FAVOURITE CITY BEACHES IN DUBAI

Dubai is one of my favourite cities, while it is now a second home, bias aside, you got to love the accessibility and comfort it offers. Taking into consideration that it's almost air-conditioned everywhere, including that over-pass over there, Dubai has a few beaches you can visit at a tap of your NOL card; I'm looking at you, mighty summer commuters. Forget about 3-6 hours drive, you can find yourself at the beach in less than an hour.

Summer used to be my favorite season, that’s when I was still living in a tropical country and summer and rainy-stormy weather are all I know. Summer used to be palm trees and coconut juice, and sun basking with your favourite bikini on. Having to live in a desert country kind of turned my happy-exciting relationship with summer, into a love-and-hate kind. You can’t blame me when it feels like 50° outside, add onto that the humidity. Now, pass over that ice cream.

Dubai is one of my favourite cities, while it is now a second home, bias aside, you got to love the accessibility and comfort it offers. Taking into consideration that it’s almost air-conditioned everywhere, including that over-pass over there, Dubai has a few beaches you can visit at a tap of your NOL card; I’m looking at you, mighty summer commuters. Forget about 3-6 hours drive, you can find yourself at the beach in less than an hour.

The Beach is located at Jumeirah Beach Residence. You get an outdoor mall, a movie house, a strip of restaurants and cafes, and the beach, all in one place. I’d like to go there around 4:00 -5:00 PM as this is the period that the sun’s not too harsh. It also gives me an ample time to find a spot to relax, listen to the waves and the chirping of the birds, till sunset! Sunsets are the best. It’s so magical you’ll find yourself staring in awe. You can choose to have a dip, but you can opt to lay a mat or rug and just picnic in style, too.

How to get there: (1) Take a metro and get of DAMAC station. (2) Tap out and walk your way towards the tram link. (3) Take the tram to Jumeirah Beach Residence 1 or 2 (4) Then from there, it’s going to be a 5-10 mins. walk, it depends on your pace.

Located at Umm Suqeim, Kite Beach is becoming the new favourite spot. Because apart from a dip at the sea, you can get to fly a kite, do kite surfing or wind surfing, and a whole lot more… or if you’re not the athletic type like me, you can just enjoy watching from afar. One time, we have brought a guitar with us, and we just had one of the best chill music sessions, over snacks and drinks and laughters in between— ever! There are cafes’ and restaurants nearby, too.
